No, it's not the Sabbath, but after a 22+ hour travel day, we needed a day to lay about and do nothing but feed ourselves and take in Taiwan.

Our digs for nights Sept 4 and 5.... Part of why we shared the pics of our home is to compare and contrast what we are accustomed to and our new surroundings. We'll let you draw your own comparisons from the pics. :)

| For those worried we'd be on squatty potties, our first toilet is MORE high-tech than we are used to. It took us a few rounds to figure out all the fancy flushing features! |

We hit a morning market with all it's sights, sounds, and smells. We found old folks boogieing to pop music for exercise at the local high school campus and Veeve and I joined in. We said, "Zao-an!" a lot and got a lot of smiles. I did laundry at a laundry mat around the corner. Q mastered our technology needs. We had great breakfast food (dan bing and papaya milk were our favorites) and a completely mediocre lunch (hole-in-the-wall bian dan shop sometimes just means hole-in-the-wall, but the owners were sweet). We tried persimmon, Asian pears, and wax apples. And we laid around a BUNCH. Arthur crashed after lunch and has yet to rally. We're trying to raise him and hit a night market and grab dinner, but his body is telling him it's 4 o'clock in the morning... Wonder what he'll be up to when it IS 4am here!

| Junking out on Taiwan's junk daytime TV programming will give you better Chinese, right? Nice cheeks, Weese! |
PS: I am blown away that I REMEMBER this city! I didn't serve here, but I must have done splits here a day or two? How did I know the Library was by the blue pedestrian bridge!!!???!!! Having my kids be here to see the sights, taste the food, smell the smells, and love the people has been magical. No tears, but amazing all the same.
